Emma C. Roberts

Emma C. Roberts is a Ph.D. student in the History of Art and Architecture and Film and Media Studies. Her research interests include non-theatrical filmmaking, group psychology practices, and social organization. Her work considers the representation of Managerial ideology and the aesthetics ofmanagement, with particular attention to management’s symbiotic relationship with the behavioral sciences in the mid-to-late 20th century.

Prior to her study at Pitt, she was a Critical Studies Fellow in the Whitney Independent Study Program, during which time she presented research concerning the dynamics of participation and identification in Leigh Ledare’s 2017 film The Task. She holds a B.A. in Art History with a minor in Screen Studies fromTemple University. She has also held curatorial and education internships at the Solomon R. GuggenheimMuseum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
